The BEST advice to the OP is NOT to become a pornstar. It isn't worth it. You must be okay with the fact that dozens of deluded degenerates would approach you in public and assume that they know you and try to fuck you. Doing porn is not too easy. Believe it or not,but you need a certain amount of choreographic skill to start out and thats the reason why most pornstars are strippers. Porn is also not a money maker itself--I mean, the producers always make money but for the performer its mostly about escorting and/or dancing. Porn is simply an advertising tool that increases demand for female performers when it comes to escorting and dancing gigs. I would start out by stripping and then enter to porn biz. If no strip clubs are willing to work with you on training, then I suggest taking yoga or dance classes. Hell, I bet there has to be a place in SoCal that teaches pole dancing, if not, post a request on craigslist. You should try as best as you can to dance regularly before going into porn as you are building up your performance art skills while learning how to deal with people in the adult industry. You also build connections that you may be able to use in the future.

Now, once you built up your skills you could either start your own production company, if you want to make most of your income off of porn, or work for others.

I simply would not advise that you get your start by responding to an agency ad unless you are personally familliar with that agency manager. Agents can promote you by building up your work schedule and fan base but they are incredibly sneaky. Its all 50/50. If they like you and the industry demand matches your skill set then you're good to go, but if they don't think you're special, you could wind up doing stuff thats not in your "expertise" or paying a middle-man that barely finds you work to begin with. Agents are scumbags, in my opinion. Just stay away from them.

Responding to a producer's ad is the same way. Make sure you know what they are looking for AND that you are comfortable doing it. Know who you are working with and make sure they are clean (that means laying YOUR EYES on a CLEAN AND COMPREHENSIVE STD test). Also know the director and make sure he/she is a decent person that recognizes that you are most important person in the room while filming.

Starting your own successful production company is hard but, in my opinion, more rewarding. It takes more capital to go through the trouble of registering your business, finding a photographer/filmer and lighting crew, filing 2257 and finding a free speech attorney for emergencies, designing your site or hiring a webmaster, finding an online merchant, finding male talent, and promoting yourself online than to start working for producers. But with all those things, that like a $10,000 investment and the returns could be huge. Take for example this girl:

If you were to start your own, for-profit, adult site, you should still build up your performance skills before posting stuff to a website. If you want to start with the bare minimum, here is what you need:

• To register and incorporate your business (for tax purposes). You can do that here.
• To keep 18 USC 2257 records (proving that everyone in your content is above 18) - You can find the form here and more info here
• A decent Digital SLR camera and a HD camcorder. The Canon Powershot SX10IS 10MP Digital Camera and the Canon VIXIA HV30 are pretty cheap and good. Take some classes or pick up a book on how to shoot/film. If you want to get really professional see these guys.
• Don't worry about lighting equipment, just take all your pics outdoors. Justin Slayer usually doesn't use ANY lighting equipment (except the flashlight on his camcorder) and his stuff sells millions of copies.
• Get a comphenive panel test with AIM and make sure anyone you shoot with does the same. You can sign up for one here.
• You can post an ad for talent on the personals of this site, craigslist, swinger sites, or by contacting adult agencies. Just make sure all your talent are CLEAN.
• Choose an adult hosting site and register a domain name with a service like GoDaddy. You can find hosting sites here.
• Design a website. This may be hard if you have no computer skills and you might need to find a web designer. You can find some here.
• Find a merchant. You need a way to recieve $ through the internet. You can find some here.
• Promote yourself online. See what Google has to offer. You can also find some more traffic generation services here. XNXX is a porn site you know, so start spreading the word here and keep posting samples.

Doing all that stuff, would cost you around $1600 with 7% and 10% of any revenue you have going to merchants and and traffic generators. If you want to design your own site, you could knock off $300.

If you are really strapped for cash, the only things you HAVE to pay for is the hosting site, the merchant, and the business registration/incorporation fee. I say this because you can use a crappy camcorder that you already have, do videos with your husband who you trust, and develop a group of afiliates on this site. You could do all those things, but, to me, it all seems like wasted effort. If you want to do something, do it right. I mean, if you are doing porn, you want to be the sexiest and most popular star around, right?

Another note is that the San Fernando valley is a giant cesspool when it comes to STDs. There is also so much competition from other porn producers/agencies that inflate costs for talent. If you wanna get your start in porn as a producer, I suggest doing it somewhere else but be sure you are aware of that community's obcenity laws. Anywhere except the Valley in CA is okay. South Florida and Arizona are good too.
