Claim
On March 6, a Facebook user going by the name Sayed Ali Bhai shared a video of a derailed metro train caused by the rail track caving in, claiming that the incident happened in Gurugram.

Investigation
The Desk ran the viral video through the InVid tool and extracted multiple keyframes. Upon running one of the keyframes through Google Lens, the Desk found several other users shared the same video with similar claims. Two such posts can be found here and here.
To verify the claim, we first conducted a customised keyword search to find relevant data. However, the search did not result in any authentic data or report to corroborate the viral claim. Notably, such an incident would have become important and garnered a lot of attention.
Further, the Desk checked the comment section of the viral video and found that several social media users commented that it was fake AI-generated. Below is a screenshot of two such comments.
Taking cue from this, the Desk carefully analysed the video and saw several discrepancies. For instance, the metro did not have Delhi Metro’s logo. Further, the people seen on the track and the station appeared to be disfigured, which highlighted that the video could be AI-generated.
Below is a screenshot highlighting the same.
In the next part of the investigation, the Desk ran the keyframe of the video through WasitAI(an AI detection tool), which suggested a substantial presence of AI content. Below is a screenshot of the result:
Further, the Desk also ran the image through SighEngine, another AI detection tool, which confirmed a significant presence of AI-generated content. Below is a screenshot of the result.
Subsequently, the Desk concluded that the viral video is AI-generated, no such incident in Gurugram.
