California Governor Gavin Newsom is making national headlines, but for all the wrong reasons. Newsom’s response to the coronavirus, combined with ongoing lockdowns that have cost millions their jobs, has residents eager to recall the governor. One America’s Pearson Sharp has more.

 

Motion filed to depose Gov. Newsom over Calif. protest bans at Capitol

The complaints continue to pile up for California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Not only is Newsom combating a massive recall effort across the state, but some are calling on him to testify about the ban on protests he made at the Capitol last spring.

A motion requesting a deposition was filed by plaintiffs Ron Givens and Christine Bish. Both are involved in a lawsuit that began in April when California Highway Patrol refused to issue permits for demonstrators at the Sacramento Capitol.

CHP claimed the decision was made in the interest of public safety amid the pandemic. As it’s a civil case, attorneys for the state argued that Newsom, the former highway patrol commissioner, and the public health director cannot be deposed because all witnesses currently or previously held public office.

The defendants hope to completely abolish the lawsuit as the ban on capitol protests was rescinded back in June.

However, with cases currently on the rise, the California governor has once again issued stay-at-home orders and crippling restrictions for small businesses.

“This is the busiest time of the year for restaurants, but generally speaking, I would say a lot of people would normally be getting together or having holiday parties,” John Thiel, the chef and owner of Pappo restaurant, stated. “So we’ve lost all of our private party business and we’ve lost all catering business.”

In the meantime, many local county law enforcement officers stated they will not enforce the latest round of Newsom’s restrictions.

 

Still if he loses and Christmas partys in bars and restaurants are back on It will be a good new year for the undertakers and hospital share holders

 

I wouldn't advise anyone to go into a bar or restaurant even if they were open right now. It's tough for those in the business but life's tough sometimes. If people would follow the guidelines set forth by the health community, we wouldn't be in this spot. ICU beds are almost depleated, something had to be done. Deal with it and hope your gutless lawmakers will step up with relief help for businesses and their employees. But asking people to participate in activities that could spread the virus even more is not the best advice.

Rising frustration over Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) response to the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a growing number of California Democrats to renounce their support for the liberal leader.

Newsom, who first came under fire for dining with unmasked guests at an upscale restaurant while advising citizens to stay home, is now being condemned for his hypocritical actions towards businesses.

A number of small business across the Golden State have suffered under Newsom’s restrictive stay-at-home orders.

“All the businesses that are going under, we need your help,” Angela Mardsen, owner of Pineapple Saloon and Grill said. “We need somebody to do something about this!”

More skepticism surrounding the efficacy of the lockdowns has continued to rise. One restaurant owner claimed state officials wouldn’t give her a straight answer when she asked about the data used to support California’s second wave of lockdowns.

The growing disdain against the Democrat state leader has prompted several businesses to take legal action. Now, members of Newsom’s own party are criticizing him for his lack of support for labor groups statewide.

The vice president of SEIU United Services Workers West Union said Newsom is putting workers out to die. Her remarks came after Newsom removed a number of union workers from the state’s vaccine priority tiers.

The Lincoln Club of Orange County called for the Democrat’s resignation, citing his mishandling of billions in taxpayer dollars and a botched distribution of Paycheck Protection Program funds.

This week, Labor Secretary Julie Su confirmed $11 billion in unemployment benefits were illegitimate, and another $20 billion were labeled as potentially fraudulent.

“There is no sugar coating the reality, California did not have sufficient security measures in place to prevent this level of fraud,” Su stated. “Of the $114 billion in unemployment paid by California since March, approximately 10 percent has been confirmed as fraudulent.”

Su said no safeguards were ever put in place to prevent Chinese and Russian criminals from stealing up to $31 billion with “sophisticated methods of identity theft.”


Several prominent Republicans have announced their support of the recall, and even proposed to replace the Democrat governor. John Cox stated his intent to run against Newsom if the recall garners enough signatures to be placed on the ballot.


Cox, who lost a gubernatorial run against Newsom in 2018, said his home state is a mess, pointing to the high cost of living, rising poverty rates and steep tax rates.


Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer has also floated the idea to replace Newsom by launching an exploratory committee into a gubernatorial run.

“Everybody wants to do the right thing and we’ve encouraged that, but yet when we see things like outdoor dining is not allowed, no science to that, when we see the delay in safely reopening our schools,” Faulconer stated. “You see that frustration that has built, not just here in San Diego, but all across California.”

The recall effort must earn at least 1.5 million signatures by March 17 in order to be placed on the ballot.

 

Boo fucking hoo. Nobody in their right mind would suggest people go into bars with covid surging hospitals beds to capacity and daily deaths racking up record numbers. The bar and restaraunt owners are hurting, I get it but who wants endanger others lives in order to keep the bars open? There are times in life we have to sacrifice a little in order to move ahead. This is one of them, it is what it is. Deal with it and be part of the solution.

She was one of the early signers to impeach his ass. If he isn't impeached she is talking about leaving the state.

I don't care one way or the other if he is recalled but closing things down was still the proper thing to do. I wouldn't vote him out over that. I would find reasons that actually have some merit, this doesn't.
