What the world was like the last time Kansas didn't win the Big 12

Kansas' college basketball record streak of 14 straight Big 12 regular season titles mathematically came to an end on Tuesday. The Jayhawks went to Norman needing to win their last two games and hope for Saturday losses from both Texas Tech and Kansas State. Instead, the Sooners put a stop to any potential scoreboard watching with a 81-68 win to end The Streak.

Still, it's difficult to put into perspective how ridiculous The Streak was for Kansas and Bill Self. In a college basketball era of the one-and-done and continuous roster turnover (except for Perry Ellis), the Jayhawks owned one of college basketball's top conferences for nearly 1.5 decades. The Streak will deservedly be remembered as one of the most remarkable accomplishments in American sports.

Just look at the last time Kansas didn't win the Big 12. The world was a different place in 2004.

Prepare to feel old.

Facebook had just launched

Mark Zuckerberg launched the original Facebook -- then called thefacebook.com -- to Harvard on Feb. 4, 2004. The Jayhawks were coming off a 65-56 win over rival Mizzou, who was still in the Big 12 at that time. Twitter hadn't even launched yet, and Myspace was still popular. Blockbuster was at its peak with 9,094 stores worldwide. It currently has one.

This was the top-selling phone

Remember the Moto RAZR? Yeah, that was released in 2004. The iPhone wouldn't drop for 3.5 more years.

The No. 1 song was ...

"Yeah!" by Usher, featuring Ludacris and Lil Jon. It's still catchy.

Chris Paul was a freshman in college

Look how young he was ...

Adam Sandler was topping the box office

His rom-com with Drew Barrymore, 50 First Dates, grossed $20.4 million in its second week.

Barack Obama was a senator

A state senator. He was still a couple months away from his 2004 keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Les Miles

The now-Kansas football coach was coaching at Oklahoma State in 2004. The Cowboys won the Big 12 in basketball that year.

The Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox were the lovable losers that hadn't won a World Series since 1918. The Curse of the Bambino was still alive for another six months. Plus, Tom Brady had only won two Super Bowls. It was a humbler time for Boston.

Perry Ellis

Contrary to popular belief, Perry Ellis was a 10-year-old the last time Kansas didn't win the Big 12.

It's been a good run, Kansas.

As you can see, HD video streaming wasn't even a thing yet on the internet.
